Review: This is not like all the previous Superman movies. This is not Smallville. This is not the sequel of Superman Returns. This is Man of Steel! This movie is awesome.I am not a big fan of Superman but this is the best Superman movie Ive ever seen. (Christopher Reeves version is also good, but this Man of Steel is better. And.. the Brandon Rouths version? Naaaaah...) The plot is really structural. Not so many flashbacks, so you wont get confused. The whole storyline is just really simple. It told the very beginning of Superman and then, yeah, his adulthood.The special effects here, I think it is as awesome as Marvels Avengers. Yeah, alien and superheroes, what do you expect? Battle scenes are good, I can feel Zack Snyder 300 sensation in here.Henry Cavill succeeded bringing a whole new version of Superman to the big screen. He wiped out all our knowledge of the previous Superman movies and replaced it with a darker version of Superman (Nolans kinda darkness) This movie is enjoyable. See? Theres still hope for DC Comics superheroes movies.

Review: They had some interesting Cartel stories that were left hanging in the End of Watch and I thought this movie would sort of be a follow up of where that left off.. The movie starts with B movie cinematography,, the same wacky camera shake and cuts techniques used in End of Watch but it just doesnt work for this as its not suppose to be a Documentary... The movie felt like one of those nights your friends convinced you to come out for some steak and beer and you instead got a stale hot-dog and front row seats in the dirtiest strip club in town. I couldnt get past the first 10 minutes and thought why the %#*@ am i watching this.. If you have a hard on for cheap movies, bad acting, and basically eating the leftovers right out of the trashcan.. you might enjoy this.. Otherwise,, this is a bad stain left on a nice shirt that might just ruin my positive expectations of a director I thought was pretty good until now.

Review: its not altogether fun. i think most who have seen it would agree...but i think its a masterful piece of storytelling. and kudos to tommy lee jones for not giving in an inch to clichés...there was so much that surprised me in this film...the reactions that i always try to guess before they happen...the lines that come out of the actors mouths... sure i guessed SOME of the times in this film...but im not usually as surprised by dialogue/character choices as i was here... it made it all so much more realistic for me, rather than watching characters who are mouthing lines of people whove seen too many bad movies and not met or done enough interesting people or things, respectively... there was one major turn in the plot towards the end that was unexpected. but in a way that i felt was also, given what wed seen of this character already, not really in line with who they seemed to be... i know it was based on a book. and all thats in a book can rarely be shown in a two hour film...so im thinking that whatever changes this character had to go through to get from point A to point B might have been left out. Otherwise it didnt really make much sense/needed to make MORE sense than it did...at least for me...i, of course, dont want to be more specific b/c then it would surely be a spoiler. i dont know what reviewer could ever think that i would want to know an important piece of information before ive seen a film... the film was beautiful to look at...the acting was extremely good. i expect Oscar nominations for swank and jones. maybe also director AND , depending on the field, maybe best picture. lets call it a dark horse... ;-)since i know a lot of people who read these might not get around to reading a lot of the comments made by, lets say, the director, id like to leave you all with these words from tommy lee jones: (on how he learned to direct) Ive worked with more than 50 directors and Ive paid attention since day one. Thats pretty much been my education, apart from studying art history and shooting with my own cameras. Ive seen 50 different sets of mistakes and 50 different ways of achieving. You just leave the bad part out.i wasnt crazy about another of joness movies--the three burials-- but this one does what he says above to the frame...if i did just one thing in my life of this quality id feel it was a life worth having lived... you DO know whats happenin...DONT you, mr jones?

Review: I dont really cry in movies unless theyre really, really sad. And this movie is bound to get you crying like theres no tomorrow. I brought a box of tissues and I used about half of them. I have never cried so much in my entire life. Being an avid fan of the book, I was kind of scared that like some of my other favourite books, the movie would be ruined. But no, the movie had all of the books materials in it (except for one thing). I never thought Shailene and Ansel would play Hazel and Gus, but when I watched it, their performance blew me away. I think Shailenes ability to cry got ME crying, because thats how real it felt. It is an amazing movie, and Im sorry to say that its even better than A Walk to Remember. Go see this movie, and if you do, maybe read the book first so that you can be somewhat prepared!

Review: Honeymoon is a one of those slash movies - horror, slash, thriller, slash, supernatural.A wonderfully in love couple are newlyweds and on their Honeymoon in the wifes familys cabin in Canada. One night the wife, Bea, sleep walks into the forest and is found confused and disoriented. Her husband, Paul, suspects something is different, but he could never imagine the dark turn of events while on his honeymoon.Honeymoon has just four actors in the entire movie, two of which are incredibly minor. The entirety of the movie features the leads, portrayed by Rose Leslie and Harry Treadaway. A fair amount of time is devoted to fleshing out the honeymooning couples relationship at the start of the film. The acting of the lovebird characters is remarkably natural and unforced, the audience gets the sense they are truly and intimately connected. Partially explained by the direction and writing allowing for minute details to naturally exist in the relationship, but also to the chemistry between the actors. This time invested is necessary because if you do not believe that Bea and Paul truly know and care for one another then they will not notice the nuanced changes during the remainder of the film.Once Bea is discovered in the forest, alone in the middle of the night, the film is no longer a blissful honeymoon but an unnerving nightmare. The gradual change within Bea and the relationship was cohesive and reasonably organic, with the exception of the initial discovery of Bea by Paul on the fateful sleepwalking night. The director Leigh Janiak never reveals or foreshadows too much about the direction of the plot to expose the films outcome.The resolution will be frustrating to some for several questions remain unanswered and ambiguous. If you dont like the atmosphere of the trailer, you wont like the movie. If you do, dont hesitate. Loved Bullhead of Roskam as well, but its a total different genre of movie, although ita also an intense crime-picture. I think this is a film that concentrates a lot of fresh Hollywood-talent, with a great amount of quality. We should definitely keep an eye on Hardy, Schoenaerts, Naomie. And of course, if you like Gandolfini/The Sopranos, you shouldnt even be reading this because it was his last movie and hes great in it!

The story of an actor persecuted by the role that made him popular, Birdman, and pressured by the willing of proving himself on stage with his new play.The characters in the story are all struggling with something: Sam (Emma Stone) with her drug addiction, Mike (Edward Norton) with his sexual problems, Lesley (Naomi Watts) with her self- realization and Michael Keaton with love. What kind of love is he lacking? Is it admiration for his work? The same admiration that chained him to Bridman, who is probably the only one capable of saving him.The cinematography reminds of that used in Hitchcocks Rope: it seems to be filmed consequently. The originality of the cinematography, though, may have sacrificed the storyline.Birdman certainly needs to be seen more than one, but likewise certainly its going to be one of the greatest movies of the year

Review: Having seen the trailers and TV set-up (BBC as a Grand Prix insert) I was thinking OK so Ive probably seen the best of this and its going to be clunky in parts or too far up its own a$$.But hey we can all be wrong, Ron Howard has added depth to a story I knew well, the presentation has a feel for the era the colours are sometimes harsh and edgy.The set pieces are well researched, the owners of some of the classic F1 hardware must have had an enjoyable time (not quite so sure about the Insurance Underwriters).Where the story hits the spot for me is the acting of the main protagonists, they have life and depth. Hemsworths presentation of James Hunt is uncanny its like a documentary hes almost as good as Daniel Day-Lewis in Lincoln.If your not a F1 fan or from the 70s it may not be more than a blokes film, but give it a go it is going to end up being a important as Apollo 13 in the life of Mr Howard and quite frankly is by far the best car racing movie ever

Review: Having seen a run of fairly forgettable blockbusters it was nice to go along and watch a low budget movie. The way way back is a coming of age movie and follows shy Duncan on his summer vacation with mother and step dad. Im sure the relationship between Duncan and parents will be familiar to many people. The good thing about this type of movie is that it focuses more on characters and you get a real sense, feel and empathy for several characters. The cast is strong and in addition to the lead played by Liam James you have the likes of Steve Carell, Toni Collette and Sam Rockwell.The movie does occasionally get a little too feel good, but thats a small drawback in what is otherwise a very enjoyable watch. Well worth a watch if you like off beat indie dramas.

Review: Some have cast doubts on the verisimilitude of parts of this picture. Of course, those who impugn whether some events really happened or whether they happened the way they are depicted in the movie neither underwent the kind of training Navy S.E.A.Ls do nor did they ever find themselves in circumstances remotely approaching those of the four comrades. We do not know what punishment the human body is truly capable of withstanding until we are put to an extreme test, gods forbid.All I can say is that, regardless of whether this movie is accurate 100%, 0% or anything in between, it brought me to tears. I can honestly not remember the last time a Hollywood movie did that.Very moving, very poignant, very touching. For that alone, as well as for keeping me riveted for the whole of two hours (which is quite a feat given my cynical and jaded nature), it deserves unalloyed plaudits.
