Review: Directors making their feature film debuts do not usually have the choice of Hollywoods best (and busiest) star - unless Akiva Goldsman it. In his epic fantasy novel Winters Tale's Oscar-winning screenwriter wrote like Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Colin Farrell and Eva Marie Saint: talented ensemble that would make a lot more experienced director envious. The problem is Winters Tale, which never comes together as Goldsman obviously wants: write clever and occasionally very good, but the movie flounders when you climb, losing instead of gaining speed and voltage that goes ON.THE story - based on Mark Helprins 1983 heavy romance - follow the thief Peter Lake (Farrell), from 1900 until today. In 1916, Peter suddenly persona non grata as a pearl Soames (Russell Crowe), his frankly insane Irish thug literally demonic mentor. While on the run, Peter finds a mysterious white horse facing the mansion Penn. At first it seems that you stole something good, Peter leaves all thoughts steal treasure Penns when he meets and quickly falls in Beverly (Jessica Brown Findlay Downton abbeys), a beautiful, flame-hair lady who is slowly eaten alive consumption. Its all very romantic, or so we are told in the supernatural element bent love story: Pearly become convinced that Peter is designed to save the girl with Titian hair, an act that could upset the balance teetering between good and evil. In fact, Peters ardent love just keep him alive for more than a century, until he meets a single mother / great journalist Virginia (Jennifer Connelly) and her daughter in a modern Manhattan. It soon became clear that fate, destiny, and a lot of mystical mumbo jumbo work here, and Peter will soon discover the healing and restorative powers of love itself. To be honest, Winters Tale is built on a series of very interesting ideas. He proposes instead belabours, the concept of the physical form of good and evil you are taking a pearl hidden throughout Manhattan, gangster profissãoe with a demon by nature. When he decides to confront Peter for good and still forced to fight on equal terms, mortal. This fantasy universe absolutely begging to be extended fiction, which may be true, and it is even more tempting for it.But Goldsman in juggling the various elements of your story, what chance slip by him, instead of focusing on love story in almost unbearable detail - although it never creates a link between Peter and Beverly that rings true. Peter learns Beverly fleeing all consumers fever, reduces your heart down, Beverly explains Peter as she believes that people go to the stars to find their loved ones when they die - all intensely romantic but not emotionally . The film then throws a few more tropics and complications in the mix (Peter the loss of memory, Peter finishes traveling in the future in our present love will conquer all, etc.), without really stopping to explain how it all fits . At least it Goldsman pulled together ensemble worth a visit, even if the films hes built around them is well worth your salt. Farrell hangs nicely on his haircut boy band, apparently too old for the role, but still play with great enthusiasm. Goldsman return A Beautiful Mind and Cinderella Man, Crowe hike through the folly of his rage, wacky character with strange amounts of joy. Pearl is easily the best character in the film, unless Say it to Goldsmans Facebook friends to play (no spoilers, but this is a movie star is undoubtedly grateful for Goldman scenario that has brought buckets of acting cred for several years). Swimming somewhere in the reams of very beautiful scenes, coupled with Goldsman and his cinematographer Caleb Deschanel, Ther ...
